Sometimes referred to as LVT flooring, this is a form of luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) where the pieces are cut into square, groutable, tile-sized pieces to mimic stone or tile. It can also be cut and mounted onto boards to mimic hardwood; this is referred to as vinyl plank flooring. An important design goal of LVF is to offer a stylish, affordable, and realistic echo of natural materials such as stone, tile, or wood, and many feel the extra seams add even more to the realism. If you haven’t already been introduced to this product, feel free to come into Christian Flooring to learn more about luxury vinyl flooring in Spencerport, NY.
High style and budget-friendly
Sometimes even flooring experts have a hard time telling it from the real thing, but you won’t pay close to the genuine materials' price. Images are taken with high definition photography, so they're clear and vibrant with colors and patterns that pop. With LVT, you can mix and match different size tiles to make encaustic patterns, geographics, herringbones, chevrons, and more. You can get stone looks with veining variations: marble, slate, terrazzo, granite, limestone, or more. If you go with a plank, you’ll see knots, grains, swirls, and wormholes. The floors have micro beveling and embossing to add depth, dimension, and textured features.
A multi-layered product, at the top is a clear, strong melamine coating that guards against scratches and scuffs. Called the wear layer, this also helps with the waterproof capabilities by keeping spills at the top waiting to be wiped off. Thicker is better, so the vinyl should be at least 8-mm or higher. Wear layers should be 20-mils thick.
It’s also low maintenance, with only regular sweeping and periodic mopping needed. Installation is a snap, literally, and can be a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and then hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue.
